Would you like to join with us in blessing those we serve?
Watching someone smile as hope and joy start to fill their lives again is an amazing experience. It's like a light comes back into their eyes, as they see the possibilities of a different way ahead. Giving, without asking in return, to help others turn on their lights is a gift with value far beyond the actual cost.
Any help you can give, any support you can offer, any involvement you can arrange - will be gratefully accepted - and it will help spread the ripples of effect - Kairos makes a difference!

Other Ways to Help
Prayer
General Prayer
Covering Kairos (all its activity), the volunteers and the guests in prayer, will always be our first and most important request for help.
Specific Prayer Points
Please click
HERE for a list of
specific areas of concern for which we would appreciate prayer as well as our daily
Prayer Calendar that you can download, giving you a specific prayer point each day.
80 Hour Prayer Rosters
Every time a Kairos Short Course or Weekend is operating a Prayer Roster is established so that people are constantly praying for the guests throughout the program.
Please look at the
Kairos Course Calendar and see if you can spare half an hour or more during one or more of those courses.
On Line Prayer Roster Registration:

Some of the regions have added their course details to an international online register of prayer vigils. Please click the hands to the right and be directed to that site. See if the program you would like to support is listed (check for the Australian flag and then the corresponding name), and if so, you can register online immediately.
If the region you wish to assist is not on that site, please make contact at the address noted on the calendar and organise for your name to be included. (Note: for privacy reasons only first names will be put on the roster).
Agape
Agape is the type of love in which the motive is to respond to another's legitimate needs without trying to get our own needs met. It is love that is self giving, not asking for anything in return (directly or via response). Agape is the type of love on which our lives are meant to run.
Agape in the Kairos environment is very powerful. Most of the guests on Kairos programs have never experienced unconditional, unqualified giving. In doing so, they experience a tangible demonstration of the support which is available if they start to open themselves to God's love and acceptance
There are a range of agape opportunities available for the broader community during a Kairos program. Some are mentioned below but others can be discussed with your local Kairos agape co-ordinator. Please get in touch with our national office and we would be delighted to arrange for the relevant person to contact you

Kairos Biscuits

Receiving
hand made food is a rare experience for those in prison and is a tangible expression of caring. Literally hundreds of dozens of biscuits and slices are given out during a Kairos Inside Course, as gifts of unconditional love made by people with a generous heart.
Often there are so many biscuits that they are distributed to others in the
centre (including the officers and staff as well as inmates not attending the Course).
The positive effect and atmosphere during a Kairos course can often be felt
throughout the prison.
You don't have to be a team member or even directly associated with Kairos, but if this style of support is on your heart, call our office and we will happily put you in touch with the local agape co-ordinator. There are a few "do's and don’t's" relating to ingredients and preparation (for security reasons), but not enough to hinder those creative cooking ideas from flowing - and the guests really do cherish home made gifts. If you click on the packet of biscuits above you will be able to see and print off some information and a list of suggested recipes.
Letters
Obviously being sent to prison is a disruption to family and social life. Sometimes it means total disassociation from loved ones and friends. There are too many men and women in prison who do not have any contact with the world beyond those walls until the day they are released (whether visits, phone calls or letters)
On a Kairos Inside course, each guest receives a bag of individually
hand written letters. Short notes of encouragement to demonstrate support for the positive choices they are starting to make in their lives.
There are obviously requirements and parameters in relation to writing these letters covering issues of protection, security, privacy - however the effect is worth the effort. These requirements and arranging delivery can all be discussed with the local agape coordinator - again contact our office to be referred on.
Posters
These can be prepared as expressions of support and encouragement. They are addressed specifically to the group e.g. "To the men/women of XXX Kairos Number XX" or "To the guests on XXX Kairos Outside #XX' .
Banners
Cloth/vinyl banners representing any colourful messages of support and love, pictorially presented, that will be utilised on the current and also on succeeding programs.

Transport
Getting guests to and from the weekend location is often an area where assistance would be appreciated. If you live in an area where Kairos Outside operates, have transport and would be prepared to help - we would love to hear from you.
Agape Gifts
Over a weekend course guests (and team) receive a number of little gifts which express that a special effort has been made just for them and that someone is thinking about them while they are on this journey.
Items don't have to be big, but sufficient are required for each person to receive the same thing.
If you are someone who can make, join, or cut up things, and would like to be involved, please contact our national office to be put in touch with your nearest Kairos Outside team.
